Return to Nothing

One of the most difficult things to grapple with as a living breathing human being is the knowledge that our consciousness is but a blip in an unending universe. Return to Nothing meditates on the impermanence of the body and the mind. The written performance utilizes nature's water cycle to explore the constant flux of all things. The poem itself contemplates death and the continuation of the world after our existence has left it. As I paint the words of my poem on the hot Tucson sidewalk the beating sun pulls the words back into the sky as quickly as they are set down. The fleeting words will soon join the clouds and then rain down to earth again in an infinite cycle.
